Understanding Integrations in Ex.Brain

2 min read

Integrations allow you to bring structured, live, or historical data into Ex.Brain from your existing tools. These include financial software, POS systems, CRM platforms, reservation tools, file storage apps, and more.

Once connected, Ex.Brain converts that data into Integration Blocks, making it searchable, secure, and available to Ex.Brain.

What Is an Integration Block? #

An Integration Block is a dataset created from an external platform. It functions just like an uploaded PDF or Excel file:

  • Belongs to a Block Category
  • Assigned to one or more Workspaces
  • Has permission controls and metadata
  • Can be summarized, analyzed, or searched by Ex.Brain

Example: Connecting QuickBooks may generate Blocks such as “Monthly P&L – April 2024,” “Vendor Payments,” or “Invoice Aging Summary.”

Why Use Integrations? #

  • Eliminate manual file uploads
  • Get live data access with automatic updates
  • Enable AI-based queries about your operational systems
  • Keep all your business tools unified in one place

How Integrations Work in Ex.Brain #

  1. You choose an integration from the Blocks page under “Integrations”
  2. Ex.Brain walks you through a secure setup (OAuth, API Key, or token-based)
  3. The platform fetches data and organizes it into Blocks
  4. You assign each Block to the correct Category and Workspace
  5. Ex.Brain becomes capable of answering questions using that data

Examples of What You Can Do with Integrations #

QuickBooks:

“How much did we earn in February?”

TOAST (restaurant POS):

“What’s our best-selling item last week in Branch 104?”

Google Calendar:

“What meetings are scheduled for the marketing team this Friday?”

Shopify:

“Show me sales trends for the West Coast store this month.”
