Understanding the Live Recording Interface

2 min read

The Speech to Knowledge (STK) live recording interface is designed to make capturing knowledge intuitive and efficient. Once you click “Start Recording,” the platform begins listening, transcribing in real-time, and preparing everything you need to turn your voice into usable knowledge.

Let’s break down what you’ll see and how to use it effectively.

Live Recording Layout Overview #

Once a session begins, you’re taken to a minimal, distraction-free interface, divided into key sections:

1. Title Bar #
  • Located top-left: “Add title here”
    • Click to name your recording session.
    • A clear title helps later when exporting, sharing, or finding the STK.

Tip:
Use a specific and recognizable name (e.g., “Sales Training – Q2 Onboarding”).

2. Tabs: #
  • Transcription: Shows the real-time transcript, speaker-separated.
  • Export: Becomes active after the recording is complete.
  • Documents: Contains all export results once generated.

Tabs remain inactive during recording to keep focus on content capture.

3. Live Transcript Panel #
  • Every word spoken is converted into text in real-time.
  • Speakers are labeled as Speaker_01, Speaker_02, etc. until manually renamed.
  • Transcript scrolls as content builds, helping you monitor what’s being captured.

Why It Matters:
You can review accuracy, catch missed phrases, or take quick notes while speaking.

4. Bottom Control Bar #
🔴 Recording Indicator #
    • Shows “REC” with a red dot when active.
    • Displays duration and audio waveforms to visualize audio input.

⏸️ Pause Button #
    • Temporarily stop recording without ending the session.
    • Helpful for breaks or to think through your next point.

⏹️ Stop Button #
    • Ends the session permanently and initiates processing (transcription finalization + diarization).
5. Ex.Brain Assistant (Coming Soon) #
  • A chat icon labeled “Ask Ex.Brain” appears bottom-right.
  • Once enabled, this will allow you to ask live questions, take notes, or create tasks via voice.
6. What Happens When You Click Stop? #
  • You’ll be asked to confirm: “Is the session finished?”
  • Once confirmed, the session is closed, and processing begins.
  • During this phase, your recording is analyzed, diarized, and enhanced for exports.

Best Practices During Recording #

  • Speak clearly, especially if multiple speakers are involved.
  • Pause naturally between sections to make transcripts more structured.
  • Consider stating speaker names at the beginning: “Hi, I’m Alex…” for better diarization.
